The theme of the museum, as well as its name, arose in a conversation with Ekaterina Alekseevna (granny Katia), who was born in this house in 1942.
The Big Life is about how every human life is interestingly unique, about how, the big story goes through all of us and everyone takes part in it, it is the private story of a seemingly ordinary family and the history of peasantry.
It is also a story of how time stands still - right here in Lomy where the villagers still honour and celebrate communal holidays as if they had not lived through the decades of the Soviet Union.
We would like to tell you about the little things of the everyday life, about objects that are very simple but absolutely foreign to modern society and, of course, about the way of life in the village of Lomy.
Furniture and utensils that have belonged to this house since the beginning of time are used in the exhibition.
You can learn more about some of them in our social media pages or listen to the provided audio guide.
The rest of the exhibition has been recreated by us, based on information about the everyday lives of villagers in the first half of the 20th century.
We have collected interior items, textiles and clothes so that you can get acquainted with daily life objects, which, believe me, are full of surprises.
The museum has a photo studio, where anyone can reincarnate in a village dweller of the 1940s-1950s and take pictures.
A film-monologue is awaiting you, where our granny Katia talks about her life. The running time is 15 min.
We also offer workshops for children and adults.
Workshop- The history of the old buffet where you will learn about one of the oldest crafts of the Rostov region - the enamel finish and try to paint in this technique.
Workshop with Vasily the house genie - for children and adults. This will tell you a little bit about the history of house genies and how much of thrifty characters they are, this will teach you how to make hand-made paper.
Workshop Eternal Summer - allows you to take the warmest memories with you in the form of a herbarium in a glass with flowers and herbs from Lomy.
